CDLE Uses Website to Report Fraud and Employer Misclassifications

The Colorado Division of Labor and Employment (CDLE) has begun posting on its website the names of unemployment claimants who have been convicted of fraud. This is good news for employers who have generally been kept in the dark about the agency’s enforcement proceedings. The restitution obtained in the second quarter of 2011 alone exceeded $264,000! It remains to be seen what result these shaming tactics will have. View the list here under the “Fraud and Integrity” heading.

On the other hand, CDLE is also providing information to workers who feel that they have been misclassified as independent contractors instead of employees. The same section of the website provides workers with information on how to file complaints.
