Some welcome news on health care reform came for sponsors of group health plans last week. The newly required four-page Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) has been put on hold for now. According to FAQ guidance released by the Department of Labor, the SBC, once slated for distribution by March 23, 2012, is now delayed until final regulations are issued. It is hoped that final regulations will give further guidance on the content and timing of the SBC and sufficient lead time for development and distribution of the documents.
