Proposed Colorado Minimum Wage for 2013: $7.78 Per Hour

The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) has announced the new proposed minimum wage for 2013. An amendment to Colorado’s constitution requires the CDLE to adjust the minimum wage rate each year based on inflation. The 2012 proposed minimum wage rate is $7.78 per hour and $4.76 per hour for employees who regularly receive tips. This new rate is set to take effect January 1, 2013.

A hearing will be held on the proposed minimum wage on Thursday, November 1, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Colorado Division of Labor, 633 17th Street, Second Floor, Denver, CO 80202.

Employers wishing to submit comments on the proposed minimum wage may do so by the close of business November 5, 2012. Comments may be delivered to the CDLE by mail, faxed to 303-318-8400, or emailed to labor.stand@state.co.us.

More information on the proposed 2013 rate and a copy of the proposed Colorado Minimum Wage Order 29 are available on the CDLE’s website and by clicking here. The wage order is unchanged except for the minimum wage rate.  Even so, employers subject to the wage order, will be required to update their posters by January 1. Subscribers to the MSEC Poster Update Service can expect to receive poster updates after the revised poster is issued by the CDLE. For more information about this service or to order posters, call 800.884.1328 or at posters@msec.org
