Arizona Raises Minimum Wage for 2013

On January 1, 2013, Arizona’s minimum wage will increase to $7.80 per hour from the current rate of $7.65 per hour.

The Raise the Minimum Wage for Working Arizonans Act, passed by voters in 2006, requires Arizona’s Industrial Commission to adjust the minimum wage each year based on the cost of living as measured by the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U).

The Act also allows employers to pay employees customarily and regularly receiving tips or gratuities $4.80 per hour, provided the employee receives at least the minimum wage when the hourly wage and tips are combined.

Employers need to update their minimum wage posters for 2013. MSEC members subscribing to our Poster Update Service should expect to receive the updated poster by the end of 2012.
