A. Employers can create an exception to their otherwise prohibition of alcohol in the workplace for company-sponsored events. But alcohol at company events must be managed. Employers should limit access and amounts consumed, provide food, offer alternative transportation, and monitor the event to assure minors are not served, no one behaves inappropriately, and no one leaves the event apparently impaired. Employers can be proactive by informing employees beforehand that they are expected to drink responsibly.
