Two-For-One HR Certifications?

Retirement Graphic No TextDid you know that starting January 5, 2015, HR professionals who have existing HR certifications, i.e. PHR, SPHR, etc., or those who obtain the PHR or SPHR by January 31, 2015, will be eligible to add the new SHRM certification at no cost? Anyone who meets the above criteria will then have until December  31, 2015 to add the SHRM credential by completing the following three steps:

  1. Document that your current certification is in good standing
  2. Sign the SHRM Code of Ethics
  3. Complete an online tutorial on HR competencies.

Once you have completed the above steps, you will be able to add the new SHRM credential and can begin a three-year SHRM recertification cycle. You do not have to give up your current credentials to add the SHRM certification.

What does this mean to you? If you have been considering taking the PHR or SPHR test – now is the time.  The next testing window runs from December 1, 2014 through January 31, 2015, and anyone who passes the test during that time will qualify to add the new SHRM credential at no cost, according to SHRM.
