DOL Extends Comment Period on Fair Pay Guidance to August 11

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has extended the public comment period for proposed guidance implementing President Obama’s “Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces” Executive Order (E.O. 13673) from July 27 to August 11.

The guidance, which the DOL released in May, is intended to assist contracting and labor compliance officers determine whether a contractor should be barred from bidding on a contract based on “serious, repeated, willful, or pervasive violations.”

The extension will provide employers more time to evaluate the effect of the new obligations and deliberate potential consequences.
