Important Announcement from MSEC — Please Read

Dear Members:

We are excited to announce that beginning October 1st MSEC will have an office in Salt Lake City.  On that date, the Employers Council (EC) located in Salt Lake City will merge into MSEC, becoming part of the largest employers association in the nation. Together, our combined organizations will serve you with over 220 employees, including 52 staff attorneys and 56 HR professionals. Be assured, as a member of MSEC, the same great membership benefits you have come to know and expect will continue, but now you will have the benefit of additional support in Utah.

Merging with EC continues the strategic direction incorporated by the MSEC Board of Directors ten years ago. At that time, the Board envisioned MSEC adding locations outside Colorado to expand its support of the business community in the western region of the United States. The Board felt this would have the dual benefit of better serving MSEC members and also better serving businesses in other western states.  The opportunities for growth needed to be vetted on the basis of these two criteria: a benefit for MSEC members and a benefit for the business community where the expansion was going to occur. As you know, our first opportunity for expansion arose when we purchased the assets of the Arizona Employers Council in 2009 and opened an office in Scottsdale.

The merger with EC brings to fruition our second opportunity and realizes the goal of strengthening our offerings to members. We add Utah attorneys, HR consultants, survey practitioners, and organizational development professionals who have in-depth experience with the myriad of issues that arise in workplaces across numerous industries. Working together, we believe we can bring our members greater insights into the issues that impact organizations in Colorado, Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, and the other states in our region. Issues like immigration, marijuana, and wage/hour regulations in industries like natural resources, high-tech, bio-sciences, recreation and retirement are ones that have great impact across state lines. With our combined acumen, we believe we can respond to these issues and more, in a way that better helps us meet our vision for you:  Effective, Successful Employers.

We feel confident you will find our expansion in Utah a very favorable change. Thank you for all your support. We look forward to continuing to serve you!

Very truly yours,

MOUNTAIN STATES EMPLOYERS COUNCIL, INC.
