Zika Virus scare – CDC guidelines

For employers with operations in Mexico, Central or South America, the Zika virus may be of concern. Most media attention has been focused on the health impact on pregnant women and babies. But there are dangers and precautions for everyone, including men, so the CDC has issued guidance and warnings at http://www.cdc.gov/zika/prevention/.

Don’t think you need to worry about Zika if all business operations are within the U.S.? Think again…

  • Spring Break season starts soon and after a long winter many employees will be heading “south of the Border” for fun in the sun.
  • Officials believe the virus will spread throughout the warmer weather states of the U.S. in 2016, including parts of Arizona, California, New Mexico, Texas, the Gulf States and Florida.

Zika is not cause for panic, but being informed is important. Share the CDC link with employees and encourage them to learn about Zika and what precautions to take to protect themselves and their families.
