Having Trouble Hiring? You are Not Alone

Finding the best talent has become increasingly difficult for many organizations. Hiring forecasts for 2016 show that many employers want to increase headcount. That means a lot of interest in the same candidates. In order to survive, your organization will have to stand out from the competition.

Here are a few simple things you can do:

Make sure your organization has an identity. Today’s job seekers are savvier than ever. Many people won’t even apply to an organization they can’t research online. Make sure you have a strong online presence. Show people why it is great to work for you!

Analyze your recruiting strategies. Where are you currently posting positions? How many qualified candidates do you actually receive from the various sources? These are critical questions to ask about your recruiting efforts. If the old ways aren’t working, change them.

Get creative. Think outside the box. Do you have internal talent you can develop? Are there skills from other disciplines that can transfer to your organization? Thinking outside of a candidate’s skills and experience can be critical in landing top talent.

Don’t overuse technology. Applicant-tracking systems are great, but a computer system will never replace a discerning eye. Ensure that you review resumes screened out by your systems, especially for those tougher-to-fill positions.

Simply being more creative with your recruiting strategy will allow your organization to fill open positions faster and with the best talent.
