Arizona’s Minimum Wage to Increase, But by How Much?

Last week, commissioners for The Industrial Commission of Arizona voted to adopt a $.10 increase to the minimum wage, bringing it from $8.05 to $8.15 per hour. This change will not go into effect until January 1, 2017, and only if Proposition 206 fails to pass. In the event Proposition 206 passes, Arizona’s minimum wage will instead increase to $10 per hour on January 1, 2017 and continue to increase each January 1 until it reaches $12 per hour in 2020, after which it will continue to adjust annually by a formula tied to the cost of living.
