Is your company thinking about sponsoring a foreign national employee or new hire for an H-1B visa this year? If so, this is the perfect time to get started. At the beginning of each federal fiscal year, 85,000 H-1B visas become available. However, the demand has surpassed supply for many years. Last year, around 236,000 petitions were submitted within the five-federal-working-day filing period, which required U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to utilize the computer-generated lottery system to select cases for further processing. Of course, this left many employers and their foreign national workers disappointed. This year, USCIS is accepting filings from April 3, 2017 through April 7.
MSEC’s Immigration Services has begun organizing its FY2018 filings and asks all employers interested in using MSEC’s fee-based H-1B petition processing to contact MSEC as soon as possible. A briefing session to discuss the H-1B process will take place on January 26, both in-person and via webinar, in the Denver office. Another in-person session will take place on February 7 in our Utah office.
Our Immigration attorneys are available at any time to answer questions from members about H-1Bs and to scope out other possible immigration options.
