Q. In what areas do employers most often find themselves with exposure to legal risk?
A. Of course, this is an overview of the laws that could present legal risks in the employee employer relationship and is not all-inclusive. Employment law is a complex and comprehensive area. Some of the common areas where employers find themselves at risk include: Civil Rights/Discrimination, Unlawful Harassment, Wage and Hour (including misclassifying exempt employees and independent contractors), Americans with Disabilities Act, and Family Medical Leave Act.
Contact your Employers Council staff representative for help in any of these areas.
