DOL Reissues Opinion Letters

On January 5, 2018, the U.S. Department of Labor published 17 opinion letters that were originally published in 2009 and then withdrawn during the Obama administration.

According to Bloomberg News, Paul DeCamp, a former Wage and Hour Division administrator prior to the Obama administration, stated that none of the letters alone is particularly significant. However, “[w]hat is very significant is that the agency has just issued a substantial number of guidance documents that, taken together, are germane to a large number of workers and workplaces throughout the country.”
