Since 1984, Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) has been motivating and enabling people to become active stewards of Colorado’s natural resources. VOC works with conservation and land agencies and relies on thousands of people annually to provide a volunteer workforce for outdoor stewardship projects. These projects take place across Colorado–from city parks and open spaces, to grasslands and foothills, to alpine meadows and peaks.
VOC offers projects for the general public as well as customized youth and business group projects in trail construction and maintenance, invasive species management, habitat restoration, gardening and planting, forestry management, flood and fire restoration, recreational improvement, and historic preservation. While work varies in type and difficulty level, all projects are fun, gratifying, and address a critical stewardship need.
VOC has opportunities for everyone–children and teens, families, young professionals, retirees, school and community groups, and corporate employees.
Skilled and effective leadership is also critical to delivering a great volunteer experience and ensuring that VOC’s work is productive and sustainable. All VOC volunteer leaders are trained through the Outdoor Stewardship Institute (OSI), a training program operated by VOC that allows anyone the opportunity to enhance their outdoor stewardship skills. VOC feels that Employers Council has been an invaluable resource by making complex areas, like HR and compliance topics, much easier to navigate. They appreciate having an on-call account manager for all their HR and legal needs. Once you get used to it, it’s pretty hard to imagine not having it.
Thank you, VOC, for being a valued member!
