In an effort to bolster the U.S. employment rate in 2019, the Department of Labor (DOL) launched a new mobile portal for job posters and seekers of seasonal and temporary employment. The portal is designed to help connect employers with potential short-term employees. The portal will also cross-reference job postings with other sites, including the “Jobs on Google” feature and others, with more partnerships promised for the future. The new site replaces the Office of Foreign Labor Certification’s (OFLC) Public Job Registry, but will continue to be hosted by that DOL division, meaning that employers will be able to more easily complete certifications for foreign workers and post the associated jobs on the portal. Despite the OFLC”s mandate to enforce laws related to foreign workers, the portal is designed for access by both U.S. and foreign nationals who are seeking seasonal or temporary work in the United States.
