Regional School Shutdown May Create Hardships for Employers

Due to the FBI manhunt, many parents throughout Colorado are dealing with school closures, and employees with children may not able to find childcare.

Employers may want to be proactive and reach out to their employees as soon as possible to find out if they are going to come into work. If they cannot, employers may want to plan for how work is going to be accomplished and how to handle the absenteeism.

Supporting an employee during a time with this type of stress will likely bring more benefits than having a punitive reaction.  Additionally, employers may want to get ahead of this by developing a plan through the end of the week, if the FBI search continues and schools remain shutdown.

As always, Employers Council remains dedicated to helping our members during difficult times.
