EEO-1 Data Collection Delayed Due to COVID-19

The EEOC has announced that they will delay collecting 2019 EEO-1 Component 1 data until March 2021 due to the ongoing public health emergency associated with COVID-19. The EEO-1 Survey requires employers to report annually on the number of employees who work for their business sorted by job category, race, and gender.  The 2019 data normally would have been required to be submitted by March 2020, but delays in the federal approval process and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic have prevented employers from filing.

The EEOC has now announced that they will delay collecting this 2019 data until March 2021, stating that this is “a time when the agency anticipates that filers will have resumed more normal operations.” The EEOC indicated that they expect to begin collecting both 2019 and 2020 EEO-1 data in March 2021 and that they will notify filers of the precise date the surveys will open as soon as it is available.
