The Interplay Between ADA and Masks

Masks are now mandated at many worksites.  Employers are finding that some employees are saying that due to a medical condition, they cannot wear a mask.  This brings up the specter of the American with Disabilities Act, as employers have a duty to accommodate medical conditions.

A member of ours is finding quite a few employees  who have this request. When we talked to the member, we found she had a solution that we liked – an ADA form for those employees stating that they cannot wear a mask at work.  With her permission, and making just a few changes, we loaded the HR Form onto our website.  Thank you, Lynnette!
