On June 10, 2021, the U S Department of Labor (DOL) issued new Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) regulations it planned on issuing in April of 2021. The emergency temporary standard, or ETS, describes what employers must do to protect health care workers from COVID-19, and is over 900 pages long.
The regulations center around the health care industry, because that group of employees is most at risk. It also has updated guidance for other employers, tracking new CDC guidance.
The guidance does not go into effect until it has been officially published in the federal register. As of this writing, June 14, 2021, that has not yet happened, but appears imminent. We will update you when it does.
